150512 Tiny Red Shoes

Description

The vertical painting is divided into two uneven zones: a turquoise hooded figure occupies the upper right, while the lower half gathers pale, green and orange fragments around a dark arched shape. Small black figures and isolated red marks punctuate the lighter field.

Authorial Comment

The artists remember being strongly affected by Palladio's architecture at the time. The Paul McCartney image is recalled as a formal operation rather than a reference whose Beatles-related meaning should determine the Work: a recognisable image used as part of the painting's grammar.
