140815 This Cold Is Killing Me

Description

A wide horizontal field is built from overlapping passages of turquoise, yellow, pink, orange and blue. A dense cobalt mass occupies the lower left, while a red-orange vertical form rises at the right and pale rectangular areas interrupt the upper centre. Drips, scratched and drawn lines, repeated short marks and loose brushstrokes cross the surface; pale violet handwritten Cyrillic text remains visible along the lower left edge.

Authorial Comment

We made this painting outdoors. At that time we often painted outside together — in parks, in attics and on industrial sites, moving between temporary places rather than working from a fixed studio.

The canvas was later buried and severely damaged. After excavation it was conserved and restored, and the damaged canvas was subsequently reworked into the 2019 painting `190612 Glass`.
